As a player, Arthas is a fascinating character. You feel so many emotions for him, but in the end most just feel hatred for the monster he’s become. He’s had more of a presence in the game than many other villians. He’s not just someone that sits at the end of an instance and you might never see him. He hovers behind every quest and motive you seem to run across in Northrend. Yet, to him, you’re nothing more than a pawn. Doing the dailies and being in Northrend so much recently has made me wonder, how do my characters view him?

Lannia:
This man was corrupted much like anyone else who has involved himself with the Burning Legion. He is a pawn that has gone out of control, but since he’s a distraction away from the Burning Legion, they allow it. There is very little that is left of the hero of long ago, if any. It is truly sad how vulnerable people are in the end, even me. *smiles sadly* Perhaps we can help him find peace so that he can finally rest. Free from his madness.

Serephim:
*snorts* You’re asking me about the Ice Prince of Azeroth. If you want my opinion, you must be a bit crazy yourself. I don’t really care about him. He’s just another crazy in this world. -What? Oh, of course he needs to be stopped. Oh! I see. You think that I might take some part in it. *shrugs* I dunno. Got enough problems to work out for myself, let alone trying to stop an insane prince. Geez, you act as if he can hear me. Ice Prince. There’s no way that I’m going to call him back the egotistal name. He’s lord over a freaking iceland full or dead people and bones. Doesn’t sound very kingly to me. Personally, I think he should just see how pitiful that is and just himself for us.

Araatris:
The Lich King. Sure, I’ve heard of him. He’s done terrible things. Sometimes I wonder if he thought they were truly best at the time, but what made him think that. Especially the whole thing with Stratholme. I’ve heard people tell me about how it burned with all those people inside. It’s terrible! *shudders* I only wish I could do more, but for now I’ll have to bide my time.

Jhaara:
The Lich King is a fool. Does he truly think he can unite us all under one banner? Even with his thoughts, groups were able to break free. My brother and I will see his downfall. No one is lord over us. My brother would just rage ahead, but he always was hot-headed. We shall wait until the moment when the Lich King is weakest and strike. Together he and I will stand over the body of our creator and watch his screaming deparature. You think that I am harsh perhaps? So, are the winters up here. They can drain the heat from your body until you lie dead in the snow. Only this time… I will bring even a colder winter to the Lich King than any has ever known and I will suck the life from his corpse. *the interviewer runs in terror*

The Falling
Jhaara looked up in terror as the man in armor stepped forward. Clank. Clank. Each step caused her to shudder. Those cold eyes held hers and she was unable to look away. It was a figure blocking her view that finally caused her to come to her senses. The armor’s voice seemed frozen and hollow. “You will serve me… In time.” No words came to her as she watched a blade raise against the armored man, but to no avail. The blade shattered and she stared at the tip of the man’s blade protruding from savior’s back.

“Kalluun!!” We were supposed to be safe here… Jhaara scrambles for the blade she’d previously lost. The footsteps were almost upon her. Just a little closer! She froze as her fingers brushed against the blade. An icy numbness spread from her middle. Her eyes flowed down to see the same blade protruding from her front. Her eyes closed slowly, “Forgive me… Brother.” She slipped from the blade and onto the ground.

“You are mine.”

Reunited

“We have prepared an unworthy initiate for you. Kill him and return to me,” commands Instructor Razuvious.

“Yes, my lord.” Jhaara rises from bent knee and walks to the central area. There is sobbing from a couple, but most seemed resigned to their fate. One off to the side catches her eyes, a lone dranei that struggles against the chains. She walks in front of him and pauses. At the same moment, he pauses and stares into her eyes.

Without words, Jhaara steps forward and unlocks the chains. As one they turn to a nearby initiate. The male dranei steps behind him in the chaos and shoves him roughly to the ground. It is without pretense that she steps forward beheads the other death knight. Together they bend down and strip him of his clothing. Jhaara regards her brother evenly, “Brother.”

He grins at her with a wild edge. “Sister.”

It is together that they return to the Instructor. When questioned, they respond in unison, “We have killed the unworthy one.” Although he pauses, Instructor Razuvious nods.

“You have done well. Suffer well, Jhaara and Kalluun.” They both look up at once meeting the Instructor’s eyes.

“Suffer well. We are the Lich King’s to command.”

Teamwork

“You know what is wanted of you.” It was a statement and not a question.

Two voices echoed in unison that not even the will of the Lich King had been able to suppress. “Yes, we understand.” The female begins in a calm voice, “We are cause havoc by killing villagers,” and the male continues with passion, “and then we are to raze it all to the ground!”

They both walk to their mounts. Jhaara lightly settles herself while Kalluun jumps and lands forcefully in the saddle. “Shall we go, Sister?” Jhaara smiles coldly while Kalluun grins toothily at her. “After you, Brother.” Kalluun takes off down the hill towards the town and she follows. For every crushing blow, Jhaara follows behind finishing off Kalluun’s picks.

It was Kalluun’s laughter that causes her to look up from her latest victim. “This is great, Jhaa! I feel better than I ever have!” Jhaara frowns in irritation. She walks forward and stays his hand from another blow.

“Enough Kall. We have other tasks to complete.” Kalluun frowns as well, but stops. It only takes a moment before he smiles again, the woman he’d been about to strike running off.

“Alright, Sis. If you say so. You really should learn to relax and have some fun.” Jhaara’s look speaks to him and he nods as if she’s spoken. “Yes, I know we still need to burn the homes, Jhaa. Come on.” She smiles without any real emotion as she alights the torches and hands one to Kalluun.

“Don’t worry, Brother. I won’t neglect my fun.”
